England are out of Euro 2012 and the majority of British players are already out of Wimbledon, so the sporting thoughts turn to matters much closer to home.
Pre-season training is due to start this coming Sunday morning and new first-team manager Adriano Girolami is looking for as good a turn out as possible for the first practice match.
“I have had a great response to my texts to players both past and new,” he said.
“Ringing around thirty players or so is very time consuming but if you haven’t yet got back to me then I will try ringing some and they might not have credit on their phones or have been on holiday.
“The arrangements for this Sunday are that we are going to meet at the club at 10.45am for a training session which will include a match.
“It will be a chance to get everyone together – the showers and the bar will both be available – and it should all be done and dusted by about 1.45pm.”
