Trophy action for first team, while Ressies face Bronllys

Presteigne St Andrews FC
The Reserves will have home advantage against Bronllys

Presteigne St Andrews FC will face an all-Spar League second division clash in the FAW Trophy on Saturday, 29 September.

Adriano Girolami will take his squad to Bont for their opening game in this competition and he will be hoping to add to Bont’s problems so far this season.

Bont have one win from their opening five matches this season, but they have a goal difference of minus-17 as they have taken a couple of heavy defeats in their opening matches.

Among these was that memorable 6-5 defeat at Abermule on Groundhoppers weekend, while they have recently lost 6-0 at Rhosgoch Rangers and 4-0 at Kerry.

But Adriano is taking nothing for granted, not least because his side has to travel for this one and he feels Bont could well be a very different proposition on their own ground as Talgarth Town found out when they were beaten 3-1 there.

The Reserves will be buoyed up by their first win of the season last weekend whey they saw off Sennybridge 1-0 at Llanandras Park, and they have home advantage again this weekend for the match against Bronllys.

This is promising to be a far tougher test of Bobby Bird and Mark Weiland’s side as Bronllys have started well and are in fourth place in the table.

Both matches are due to kick off at 2.30pm and if you are heading down to watch the Reserves, then admission prices will be the usual £2.0o for adults and £1.00 for senior citizens and youngsters under the age of 16.
