Presteigne St Andrews FC’s chairman Alan Randell has confirmed the first-team game against Llanfyllin Town scheduled for Bank Holiday Monday – 1 April – has been postponed.

Despite the fact there has been a very slow thaw in the Presteigne area in the last 48 hours or so, there is still no shortage of snow on the pitch at Llanandras Park and so the postponement was inevitable.

“There are still around two or three inches of snow on the centre of the pitch so it was a pretty easy decision to take,” said Alan.

“Llanfyllin will be grateful for the early decision as it is a Bank Holiday Monday so presumably their players will now have the chance to do other things.

“We would have liked to have had the game on as the fixtures as starting to back up a bit, but there was no way the game could go ahead,” he added.

The next scheduled matches at Llanandras Park will be the Reserves against Radnor Valley on Saturday, 6 April and then the first team against Hay St Marys in the semi-final of the Otway Cup on Sunday, 7 April.
