Mid-week derby action against Llandrindod Wells

Presteigne St Andrews FC will return to Spar Mid Wales League action on Wednesday, 1 May when they will take on Llandrindod Wells at Llanandras Park.

The original fixture was abandoned due to a floodlight failure with only two minutes remaining when Llandrindod were leading 3-2.

A number of people have asked why the result didn’t stand – the rule always used to be that if more than 70 minutes had been played then the result would stand.

But not any more – apparently the referee was entirely right to abandon the game as the rules now say that the full 90 minutes, plus any injury time, has to be played, otherwise it is a case of  ‘let’s do it all again’.

Danny Williams’ side will go into the game in good heart following their terrific second-half comeback at Knighton Town on Saturday when – from 2-0 down at the break – they hit back to win 3-2.

But they know Llandrindod Wells are likely to be a tough nut to crack as they secured promotion to the first division last weekend.

The kick off at Llanandras Park will be at 7.30pm and admission prices will be the usual first-team prices – so, £2.50 for adults, £1.50 for senior citizens and £1.00 for youngsters under the age of 16.
