After the disappointments of the Boxing Day derby match for the first team, all eyes will now turn to the Reserves for their home match against Radnor Valley on Saturday, 28 December.

Mark Weiland’s side knows there is a tough-looking schedule just around the corner in January, so they will be especially keen to make home advantage count in this one.

Presteigne Reserves are currently sixth in the Mid Wales League (South) table – that is two places and nine points better off than Radnor, who have also played a game more than ‘Weedo’s’ side.

A win in this one would guarantee the Reserves heading into the new year in fifth place in the division, as this is the only game scheduled for this weekend in the ‘South’.

Victory would see the Reserves climb above Newcastle in the table, but they will be taking nothing for granted.

It is a horrible footballing cliche – but then it is only a cliche because it is true – form counts for little in derby games and Radnor Valley will certainly fancy their chances at Llanandras Park.

This is especially so as they have already turned over the Reserves in the Alfred Sparey Cup this season so will feel another trip here holds few fears for them.

The kick off at Llanandras Park on Saturday, 28 December will be at 2.30pm and the admission prices will be £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for senior citizens and youngsters under the age of 16.

A reminder that the 100 Club draw for December is due to take place in the clubhouse immediately after the match.

It is hoped to have an initial report up online at some stage on Saturday night, with more flowing prose to follow from ‘Weedo’ at a later date.
