Preview of the weekend action

Destination Talgarth for the first team

After a weekend off last time around, Presteigne St Andrews FC will be hoping for more luck on Saturday, 1 February.

But they won’t be holding their collective breath as heavy rain has, once again, swept across the Mid Wales area – as well as plenty of other areas – throughout Friday.

Talgarth were not sounding overly optimistic earlier today when a tweet to Mark Weiland suggested that if the heavy rain turned up as predicted, then there would be ‘no chance’ of the game going ahead.

But hope springs eternal and until we hear the game is off, we will assume it is all systems go for the new-look management team of Danny Ives and Simon Hamer.

Talgarth Town have won only two of their eight Spar Mid Wales League games so far this season and so are in the bottom half of the table.

They played on twice in January in which they were beaten 1-0 at home by Abermule and then went down 3-1 at Rhosgoch Rangers.

Assuming it does go ahead, Saturday’s game will kick off at 2.30pm and it’s hoped to have the result of this one up online at some stage later that evening.

But the bottom line is that we are going to need the persistent heavy rain to ‘do one’ if the match has a chance of surviving – there you are, a career in weather broadcasting awaits if I can come up with terms like that.

There is no game for the Reserves this weekend.
