Another good day at the office

Another good day all round

For the second Saturday running, both the first team and the Reserves were to emerge victorious in their respective matches.

Danny Ives took his first-team squad to Radnorshire rivals Newbridge and they were to emerge 7-2 victors at the Spar League, second division’s bottom side.

While we were guaranteed to finish in sixth place in the table going into the game, this was still an impressive win – especially as it came away from home.

But, having said that, our away form has been better throughout the season – this was the side’s fourth win on the road, while we have managed only two league successes at Llanandras Park.

As for the Reserves, they are now up to third place in the Mid Wales League (South) after they ‘did a Swansea’ and came away from Newcastle with a 2-1 win.

This means the race is still on for runners-up in the table as – while Mark Weiland’s side can’t catch the leaders, Llanidloes Town Reserves – they could still overhaul Rhayader Town Reserves who are currently second.

But if ‘Weedo’s’ side is to achieve this, they would need Rhayader to lose their last two games which are not the easiest – at home to Newcastle and then away at Sennybridge.

Rhayader have plenty on it themselves as they could still win the title after Llanidloes Town Reserves were surprisingly beaten 1-0 at home by Radnor Valley this afternoon – this means Rhayader are three points behind with two games to play, while Llani’s second string have now finished their league programme.

On top of this, the Reserves would need to win their last two games – which are away at Llandrindod Wells Reserves on Wednesday, 23 April and then at home to Bronllys on the final day – Saturday, 3 May.

I hope to have details of goalscorers up online before the end of the weekend but well done to both sides on very decent victories.
