Presteigne St Andrews FC’s new chairman Andy Crowe is looking forward to the challenge of driving the club forward both on and off the field.

With the appointment of a new management team in Adie Bennett and Jamie Allen, the new team in charge at Llanandras Park are keen to hit the ground running over the important pre-season period.

Andy Crowe says it was always going to be a priority to get the first-team management structure finalised quickly.

“We’ve had quite a few years where we’ve swapped and changed for whatever reason – people have left because of work commitments or it hasn’t gone right on the pitch,” he said.

“Also, off the pitch there are some things the club needs to do to perk itself up a bit.

“On top of this we also need to re-engage the community,” he added.

Adie Bennett and Jamie Allen are both well known to the club and crucially they both know the club well.

Andy Crowe these were important factors when it came to determining who would have the job of trying to rekindle our fortunes in the Spar Mid Wales League, second division.

“That has been a major priority really as we are a few weeks everybody else in the divisions, as we have been for the past few years,” he said.

“Every time we change we don’t seem to have a contingency plan or, if we do, it isn’t in place quickly enough.

“But for training we will be phoning around people to start training with or without a first-team manager as the Reserve-team coaches will be able to take training,” he added.

Off the field, one of the main priorities is that the social club should become a far more viable concern.

Andy says it is a great facility which is currently being under-used by both the club and the wider community.

“As a social club we can start getting in touch with local businesses and local people even through a mail shot,” he said.

“That way, we can hopefully get them to realise there is a club here that they can use,” he added.
