It was very warm going for the first-team game against Leominster

Presteigne St Andrews FC will continue their build up to the new season on Tuesday, 29 July when Rhosgoch Rangers will visit Llanandras Park.

Manager Jamie Allen was delighted by the side’s efforts in the 5-3 home win over Leominster Town in their last outing, not least because a number of players had to cry off late in the day and so he had to shuffle his pack.

But he acknowledges Rhosgoch are likely to prove a stiffer test as they are clearly on a high after winning promotion to the Spar Mid Wales League, first division at the end of last season.

It has been quite a turn around for the Crow Lane side whom it was rumoured were seriously considering their future at Spar League level only a couple of seasons ago.

But they opted to keep going and that proved a very good decision as they went on to win the second division title at something of a canter last season.

Tonight’s game is due to kick off at 7.30pm and everyone will be welcome to take a look at how things are coming together.

One thing is for sure, it should be cooler than it was for the Leominster game when most of those former players on the touchline were never more glad their playing days were firmly behind them – that did look like hard work.
