The draws have been announced for both the Aspidistra Radnorshire Cup and the Mid Wales League (South) and Presteigne St Andrews FC’s players and management could be forgiven for thinking someone up there doesn’t like us very much.

The Radnorshire Cup tie will see us head to Cymru Alliance club Llanidloes Town for a first-round tie – so, a nice easy game there, then!

To compound our problems with this one, this game has been arranged for a Tuesday night (23 September) and, while it will no doubt kick off at 7.30pm, there is always the chance some players might struggle to get there after work.

The Reserves have fared little better in terms of the draw for the Pip Samuels (Electrical) Mid Wales League (South) Cup as they, too, will be off to Llanidloes.

They will head to Llanidloes Reserves for a first-round tie that is scheduled to be played on Saturday, 11 October.

Llanidloes Reserves looked odds-on to win the Mid Wales League (South) last season only to surprisingly lose their final match of the season at home to Radnor Valley.

This allowed Rhayader Town Reserves to take the title by winning their matches in hand while Llani could only watch from the sidelines.

So, two tough draws in these cups but then, as someone once said, ‘To be the best, you have to beat the best’.
