Improvement in disciplinary record

Presteigne St Andrews FC
Refs needed for pre-season friendlies

Presteigne St Andrews FCThe first ‘Fair Play’ league tables of the season for the Spar Mid Wales League have been released and they make far better reading for Presteigne St Andrews FC than those of recent seasons.

Having been bottom of the table in the last couple of years, which led to the club incurring a heavy fine from the Football Association of Wales disciplinary panel, the table to the end of September has us top of the table with the fewest disciplinary points in Division Two.

We picked up only three cautions during that period and so this is definitely a step in the right direction.

Yes, cynics will say we hadn’t played too many league games up until that point, but this should take nothing away from what is clearly an improvement and the management team and players deserve credit for their efforts on this front.

There is no room for complacency though, as we have already picked up a red card in October although, to be entirely fair, there were some mitigating circumstances in that incident.

It is a good start – but it is only a start – and the committee would reiterate that, as a club, we really cannot afford to be up before another disciplinary hearing at the end of this season and would ask players to be mindful of this every time they take to the field.
