Rain stops play on Friday evening

Presteigne Reserves’ scheduled Mid Wales League (South) match against Rhayader Town Reserves on Friday, 21 November has been postponed.

This won’t come as a great surprise to those living in the immediate environs (good word) of Presteigne as it has been caning it down from a great height for much of the afternoon.

Vice-chairman Tom Ammonds says the prospects looked good throughout the morning, but the poor weather this afternoon had finally beaten them.

“We had a look at about midday and the pitch was fine so it was ‘game on’ at that stage,” he said.

“But it has rained pretty much non-stop throughout the afternoon and it has been heavy rain for much of that time.

“We were aware Rhayader would want an early call so as to prevent any wasted journeys and a later inspection confirmed our fears,” he added.

So, the weekend football ‘fix’ for Presteigne fans will focus on the first team’s game at Talgarth Town in the Spar Mid Wales League, second division on Saturday, 22 November.

The kick off in that one will be at 2.30pm and it’s hoped to have the result up online at some stage on Saturday evening.
