Friday-night football at Llanandras Park

Presteigne St Andrews FC

Presteigne St Andrews FCPresteigne St Andrews FC will welcome Penybont to Llanandras Park on Friday, 28 November for their ER Jenkins Cup tie.

This is the second attempt to play this fixture after heavy rain a fortnight ago led to the postponement of the original fixture.

But hopefully it will be ‘all systems go’ for Friday night when Jamie Allen’s side will look to build on their recent improved form.

Last Saturday’s 4-2 win at Talgarth Town means it’s now three games unbeaten for the first team in all competitions and so they will be in a confident frame of mind.

After initially struggling to adapt to life at the higher level following promotion from the Mid Wales League (South), Penybont’s form has picked up to a degree, but they remain bottom of the second division table.

They have found away games especially hard going so far as they have lost all six league games on the road.

So, we are all hoping the weather is kinder to us this week and we can get the game played – the winners will host Abermule in the next round.

In order to cover all bases, the clubs have agreed contingencies should the weather take a turn for the worse on Friday, although, obviously, we are all hoping there are no such problems.

In the event of there being another torrential downpour on Friday that would lead to another postponement, then the match would be rescheduled for Saturday, 29 November when the kick off would be at 2.30pm.

We would like to thank BJ Watkins Electrical Ltd for their kind sponsorship of this match.

Meanwhile, it’s been confirmed striker Callum Matthews is to receive his FAW award for being named Player-of-the-Round in the Welsh Cup Preliminary Round.

Callum scored all four goals in Presteigne St Andrews FC’s 4-3 win over Newbridge.
