Message from Alex Marsh’s family

Presteigne St Andrews FC

Presteigne St Andrews FCThe parents of the Bont player Alex Marsh have been in touch to pass on their thanks for the way in which the club responded to the unfortunate incident during Saturday’s match that resulted in both Alex and Simon Hamer ending up in hospital.

Alex’s father, Andre, has sent the following message to the club:

“I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everybody from Presteigne St Andrews FC who helped my son Alex on Saturday,” he writes.

“I can only imagine what it was like; I’m glad I wasn’t there to witness the incident.

“He [Alex] came out of Hereford Hospital at around 10.00pm Saturday after a clear CT scan.

“Whilst he was there, your goalkeeper [Simon Hamer]came in to see him which was a nice gesture – I hope he makes a speedy recovery from his leg injury and is back playing soon.

“Alex is now back to normal apart from a sore neck; there isn’t even a lump on his head which is surprising – I think he’s been lucky really.

“I hope the lad knows that there was no malice in the run-up to the incident – it was just one of those things that can unfortunately happen.

“I’ve been told that there were two ladies, a nurse and a first aider [Ed’s note: I believe this was Amy Anning and Annie Davies] who were especially brilliant.

“My wife and I will be at the rearranged game so we can personally thank you.”

Andre & Tracey Marsh

The club would again like to place on record our thanks for the way in which those present dealt which what was a potentially very nasty incident – especially Amy and Annie – although others were also involved.

Hopefully both players involved will make speedy recoveries and will be back playing again as soon as possible.
