Presteigne St Andrews FC’s luck with injuries to key players isn’t getting any better with the news that another of the first-team squad faces a spell on the sidelines.

Midfielder, Danny Evans has reportedly dislocated and cracked his shoulder after an awkward fall during the 4-3 defeat at Hay St Marys on Saturday, 17 January.

There was no malice in the incident at all – Danny just appeared to land awkwardly during a run-of-the-mill challenge during the game.

The extent of the injury didn’t become apparent until well after the game, but Danny has a history of shoulder problems and reportedly had a fair idea that the news was unlikely to be good.

While he had started the game in midfield, Danny was to end his involvement playing at the centre of defence as manager Jamie Allen tried to change things around in the closing stages of the match.

Tom Ammonds also took a nasty blow to the ribs, but he was able to complete the game, although Danny’s injury meant that Presteigne ended the match at Hay with only 10 players as they had already used their three substitutes prior to Danny’s injury.

We wish Danny a speedy recovery as he joins the list of those likely to be sidelined for the foreseeable future.

It was good to see goalkeeper Simon Hamer at Hay at the weekend and, while he told me he has written off this season, he said the challenge now is to get fit for a comeback in August.
