Both the first team and the Reserves will again be on the road

Presteigne St Andrews FC will return to action this weekend – snow and rain permitting.

The first team is due to head to Borth United on Saturday, 31 January for what will be the first-ever league meeting between the sides.

Borth United have had a successful recent history in the Ceredigion League and this season saw them take the step up into the Spar Mid Wales League, second division.

Borth are comfortably in mid-table in this their debut season at this level, although they have blown a bit hot and cold at home.

They have won five and lost four of their home games so far this season, but have played only once so far this month.

In that game, they were beaten 3-0 at home by Knighton Town, but postponements have put paid to the Ceredigion club being able to get things back on track.

As for the Reserves, they will also be on the road this weekend – they will head to Talgarth Town Reserves for their Mid Wales League (South) fixture.

Talgarth’s second string are having something of a nightmare this season – they have lost all 15 of their league games so far and have a goal difference of minus-73.

Then, to compound their problems at the foot of the table, they have been docked six points for their failure to fulfil two fixtures, so currently sit on minus-six points.

They are 14 points adrift at the foot of the table and so Mark Weiland and his side will be optimistic of making further progress up the table.

But the pressure will be on to a degree – after all, it is unlikely that Talgarth Reserves’ poor run will go on for ever and so no side will want to be the first to fall victim.

The games at Borth United and at Talgarth Town Reserves will both kick off at 2.00pm and it’s hoped to have reports up online at some stage on Saturday evening.
