Presteigne St Andrews FC
First team on the road and the Under 17s at home

The weekend is almost upon us and all three of our teams are in action with the first team on their travels, the Reserves at home with the Under 17s also due to have home advantage for their match.

The first team will head to Lant Field to take on Builth Wells for a Spar Mid Wales League, second division game on Saturday, 28 February.

To say the the first team’s recent form has been ‘inconsistent’ would be something of an understatement – this is borne out if you take a look at their last four results.

They were 4-3 home winners over Churchstoke, but then got right royally tonked 9-1 at home by Hay St Mary’s in their Otway Cup tie.

But they recovered from this to hand out a tonking of their own as they put away Newbridge 7-1 in a league game at Llanandras Park.

If they thought they had turned a corner after that one then the wheels again came off the cart when they hosted Kerry at home in the League Cup second round tie as Jamie Allen’s side ended up on the wrong end of a 6-1 result.

So, it is looking as though it could be a case of: ‘Which Presteigne side will turn up?’ – hopefully it will be the free-scoring one and they can come away from Lant Field with all three points on offer.

The Reserves are at home this week, they will host Brecon Northcote at Llanandras Park in a game that is due to kick off at 2.30pm.

This has the look of a winnable game about it and here’s hoping ‘Weedo’s’ boys can pick up the three points on offer.

Admission prices will be the usual £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for senior citizens and youngsters under the age of 16.

As for the Under 17s, they will be at home to Hinton on Sunday, 1 March for what will be their final league match of the season.

This game is likely to be played on the John Beddoes School field, although this will be confirmed on the morning of the game and I will tweet the final decision assuming Haydn lets me know!

The kick off will be at 2.00pm and I am sure the Under 17s would welcome as much support for that one as possible.
