Preview of the weekend action

Another weekend of mixed fortunes
Presteigne St Andrews FC
The first team are off to the seaside – the Reserves the sewage works. Hardly seems fair….

The first team will head to the Ceredigion coast on Saturday, 28 March for the return match against Borth United.

The sides will know each other pretty well as they met only a fortnight ago at Llanandras Park when the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

On the face of it, there is little to play for in this one as, while Borth have had a very solid debut season at this level, they are not going to feature in the promotion shake-up come the end of the season.

As for Jamie Allen’s side, while it has been a disappointing season overall, they have done more than enough to ensure they will not feature in the bottom two places come the end of April.

One interesting anomaly from the season so far – well, I say ‘interesting’ perhaps I need to get out more – is that Borth are yet to draw a league game at home, while Presteigne are yet to draw a league game away.

So, what are the odds on a pulsating 5-5 draw in this one that would serve to both entertain the crowd and blow both of those records out of the water?

Congratulations to Borth United’s manager Ian Lewis who was named Manager of the Month for Division Two for February – a month in which they put six past Newbridge and five past Talgarth Town.

As for the Reserves, they will host Builth Wells Reserves in a Mid Wales League (South) match at Llanandras Park.

The Ressies will be looking to end the season on something of a flourish and, with six games to go, they will know a strong finish could yet see them pushing up towards half way in the table.

A win for ‘Weedo’s’ boys in this one would take them above tomorrow’s visitors in the table, so no shortage of incentive there.

The kick off for the Reserves against Builth Wells Reserves will be at 2.30pm and the admission prices will be the usual £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for senior citizens and youngsters under the age of 16.
