Good to end the home league programme on a positive note

Presteigne St Andrews FC ended their home fixtures in Spar Mid Wales League, second division on an upbeat note with a 2-1 victory over Penybont at Llanandras Park on Saturday, 18 April.

The home side took the lead after around 20 minutes when Kieran Lusher netted from a corner and this was a lead they held until half-time.

Then, after around an hour of the game, Presteigne doubled their lead when Callum Matthews found the net to make it 2-0.

Penybont rallied in the closing stages and did pull a goal back with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining, but Presteigne held on for the victory.

The early indications are that this had ‘end-of-season’ written all over it and it is not a game that will live long in the memory, but a win is a win.

Well done to everyone concerned as we recorded what was only the third home league victory of the season.

The first team will return to action on Wednesday, 22 April when they will make the long trip to Kerry for a 6.45pm kick off.

They will then round off the season on Saturday, 25 April when they will head to Dyffryn Banw.
