A fruitless night on the road for the first team

Presteigne St Andrews FC were beaten 5-1 in their penultimate Spar Mid Wales League, second division match of the season at Kerry.

It was a case of ‘same old, same old’ to a degree as Presteigne took the lead, courtesy of an own goal, but the home side hit back to lead 3-1 by the break.

According to Tom Ammonds, Kerry scored one really good goal, and were then awarded a dubious penalty, although ‘Ammo’ did stress that generally the referee had a really good game.

The third goal just about summed up the night – a Kerry shot was cleared off the line by John Crawley, but the follow up hit another Presteigne defender on the head, before cannoning on to the cross bar and then bouncing down over the line.

Kerry added two further goals after the break to run out comfortable and deserved winners, but Tom felt the margin of the victory was probably a bit harsh on him and his team-mates.

Presteigne will round off their season on Saturday, 25 April when they will head to Dyffryn Banw for their final league game of the campaign.
