A home win in a cup final to round off 10 years as a squad

Congratulations to Presteigne Juniors Under 17s who won the Edwin Traylor Invitation Cup final when they beat Leominster Minors 3-1 at Llanandras Park on Sunday, 17 May.

This squad – under Haydn Williams and Alun Crichton – has been together all the way through the age groups for the past decade.

They were determined to end their tenure in junior football on a high note and the squad certainly didn’t let them down.

I am yet to received details of goalscorers and other key moments in the final but, as soon as I do, I will add these into the report.

Our thanks to Edward Traylor and the Traylor family for his kind sponsorship of the game and continued support of the Invitation Cup.

But, in the meantime, congratulations to everyone involved in the win – it is always good to end any season with some silverware, but especially perhaps when it marks the end of a decade playing together as a squad.

Of course, we are now hoping the majority of the Under 17s move on into senior football with the Reserves and then the first team – some have already had a taste of it.

I am sure all the players and parents of the squad would like me to place on record their thanks to Haydn, Alun and their team of helpers for all the work they have put in over the past 10 years.

It has been a massive commitment over a very long period of time – take a bow, gentlemen, you deserve it!
