Yes, it is time to dust off the boots, discover that you had actually left them in the kit bag from the last game of last season while, to be honest, the least said about that towel you wrapped them in, the better.

Pre-season training will begin on Tuesday, 30 June at the John Beddoes School field in Presteigne.

All players – those from last season and those who have never played for the club before but who fancy it this season – are welcome.

You are asked to be there for 6.45pm and the session will then get underway at 7.00pm.

I am assured those running the training will have a variety of different sessions on offer so as to keep things interesting.

It has certainly come on since 25 years or so ago when it used to be a case of: ‘There’s the Warden, run up it and then come back here – then run up it again..’

So, if you are interested in playing for Presteigne St Andrews FC next season, then you would be very welcome at the first pre-season training session.

Just a reminder – Tuesday, 30 June at 6.45pm. It might be an idea to bring trainers as well as boots just in case the going on the school field is – in racing terms – ‘good-to-firm’.
