Fixtures updated for first team and Reserves

A tough day on the road
Presteigne St Andrews FC
Updated fixtures are now available

Our thanks to the respective league secretaries who have come up with the goods in terms of the fixtures for the foreseeable future.

These are for both the Spar Mid Wales League and the Mid Wales League (South) and both have had their own issues in providing us with detailed fixtures.

The Spar Mid Wales League fixtures are now in place through until Boxing Day when Presteigne St Andrews will head to Radnor Valley for a festive derby game.

But, as you will see if you look at the fixtures, there are a lot of blank dates in the schedule at the moment as all fixtures will depend on both our and other clubs’ progress in the many and varied cup competitions that have to be fitted in throughout the season.

Among these are the Welsh Cup, the FAW Trophy, the Central Wales Cup, the Spar Mid Wales League Cup and the ER Jenkins Cup.

This is before we include our own Otway Cup – all we need it the Double-D Cup and we would have the full set – probably in every sense of the expression…

So, these fixtures will be amended as the season unfolds and they will be updated as and when the information comes to hand.

As for the Mid Wales League (South), they have been holding off releasing the fixtures until such time as there is white smoke up the FA’s chimney as to whether or not Bucknell can play their football in the Mid Wales League (South) this season.

Bucknell are, of course, an English club and so they have to be granted the relevant permissions before they can play in a Welsh competition.

League secretary Paul Worts has held off for as long as possible, but he has now published the fixtures for the first month with the Shropshire club included for the time being.

It is to be hoped that the powers-that-be see sense and allow Bucknell to play in the ‘South’ – they clearly want to and they have a history of playing in the league so here’s hoping an all-too-seldom bout of common sense breaks out.

The Ressies will open with a home game against Carno Reserves and face two midweek games in the first month – they will go to Hay Reserves and host Knighton Town Reserves.

The updated fixtures for both clubs are on the respective drop-down menus at the top of the page – hover your cursor over ‘First Team’ or ‘Reserves’ tab and this season’s fixtures should then appear.
