Any win is a good win, but to go away from home and beat one of your local rivals in convincing fashion is always something of a bonus.

Leading up to the game, this had the of a fixture in which both sides could really do with a win if they were to breathe life into their seasons after disappointing starts.

But, credit to the first team squad for rising to the challenge and picking up the three points on offer – this was how manager Jamie Allen had viewed the performance.

We made a slow start and went 1-0 down to a wonder strike from there midfielder after 20 minutes,” said Jamie.

Then Merv [Stephens] lobbed the keeper and scored after a through ball from Kieron Lusher to make it 1-1.

Merv then scored again at the near post after captain Jordan McQueen put him through, so that put us 2-1 in front.

There was a bit of a setback when Jamie Durban got injured and Rambo came on to replace him in goals but we held firm and went in 2-1 up at the break.

In the second half, they then got back to 2-2 after our defence went to sleep.

But we rallied again and went 3-2 up after Neil Mills and Ryan Stokes combined for Mills to whip a deep cross to the far post where Duane Anning was on hand to score.

Danny George then came in for Millsy and instantly scored with his first touch after Josh Gardner crossed in to the near post.

The only disappointing element of the second half came when Kieron Lusher got himself sent off – the received a straight red after about 70 minutes.

But we finished it off in style when Danny scored again after Josh crossed to Merv who headed back across goal allowing Danny to finish with a sweet right-foot sweet volley.

All in all, this was a good performance and three points well earned.”
