Weather permitting, it is back to it for both of our senior teams on Saturday, 6 February with the first team having home advantage for their scheduled Spar Mid Wales League, second division match against Berriew.

Presteigne St Andrews FC would like to thank Dickie Preece for his generous sponsorship of this fixture.

In case you were wondering, originally we were due to host Churchstoke on this weekend, but there were late changes to the fixture list.

After the problems of the past few weeks, I am told the Llanandras Park pitch is perfectly playable as of 9.00am on Friday morning, so here’s hoping it stays this way.

Anyone who has seen the weather forecast for Saturday will know it is not looking too flash – heavy rain and strong winds are apparently the order of the day, but let’s hope the 2.30pm kick off at Llanandras Park means we are over and done with before the worst of the weather arrives.

If you want take a look at the likely weather prospects for Presteigne, then you can do so by clicking here and checking out the BBC forecast for our immediate area.  Scroll down and take note of the ‘Yellow Weather Warning’ bit and you will see why we are being a bit cautious.

But, hope springs eternal and, assuming we do get the game on, it is promising to be a tough one against a clearly useful Berriew side.

They are top of the second division table and have dropped only four points this season, while they have also won every away league game so far this campaign – so something for ‘Weedo’ and his team to aim for there, then.

As for the Reserves, they will return to Mid Wales League (South) action with an away trip to Carno Reserves.

This is another game against a side in and around them in the table, so John Bright and Duane Anning will be looking to their side to kick on in this one if at all possible.

According to the league table, Carno Reserves have only played three home games so far this season, so they won’t be much more familiar with their surroundings than our boys!

We hope to have details on the outcome of both games up online at some stage on Saturday evening with more detailed reports to follow later in the weekend or on Monday.

The admission prices for the first-team game at Llanandras Park on Saturday will be the usual £2.50 for adults; £1.50 for senior citizens and £1.00 for youngsters under the age of 16.
