Presteigne St Andrews FC is to get behind one of its former players as he prepares to run the London Marathon in support of a cause that is very close to home – Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Always a popular figure at Llanandras Park, Will Lindesay played for the club for a number of seasons and, while he last turned out for Presteigne in 2005, he has always maintained a close association with us since then.

You might have read in The Hereford Times of the issues Will’s wife Mandie and her family are facing as a result of Motor Neurone Disease.

If you haven’t seen the article, then you can read it by clicking here and you will be redirected to the Hereford Times article.

As part of his fundraising efforts before the London Marathon, Will has arranged a charity football match and race night at Ewyas Harold FC on Saturday, 27 February.

After discussion at committee level, it was felt that – with it being on a match day for ourselves – it was clearly going to be very difficult to ask players to take part in the game.

So, the committee agreed to make a donation to the cause from the club as a whole and this has been sent to Will.

However, should you feel you would also like to help out, then you can do so by clicking here or on the logo at the top of this story and you will be routed through to Will’s Virgin Money Giving page and you can make your own donation.

Presteigne St Andrews FC would like to send our very best wishes to Will, Mandie and the extended family and best wishes to Will when he runs the marathon on Sunday, 24 April – which will be his birthday!
