Penybont Cup exit after dramatic Builth fight back

Our last chance of silverware has gone west

Presteigne St Andrews FC bowed out of the Penybont Cup in disappointing fashion when then were beaten 5-4 by Builth Wells on Tuesday, 17 May.

Mark Weiland’s side led 4-2 with around 15 minutes to go but, credit to Builth, they dug in and first of all got themselves back into the game before then going on to win it.

Whether the first team ‘ran out of steam’ over the closing quarter-of-an-hour due to  a lack of games in recent times – well, I don’t really know as details are sketchy.

The Presteigne goalscorers were: Justin Davies; Mark Weiland (penalty); Ioan Hughes and Jamie Blythe.

But, whatever happened, well done to Builth Wells for hanging on in there and it is they who go through to meet Radnor Valley in the final.

As far as we are aware, that final will be played at the Racecourse in Penybont on Friday, 20 May.
