Presteigne Reserves enjoyed their Friday-night work out against Weobley at Llanandras Park in which they ran out 3-1 winners.

Again, this game was played over three 30-minute periods and manager Tom Ammonds felt there were a lot of positive aspects to take from his side’s showing.

“After a disappointing tempo at the beginning of the game we had just started to pick things up when  we went one down after we failed to deal with a long throw,” said Tom.

“Our first goal came from what was a terrific move from back to front that ended with Ioan Hughes finishing with a strong left-foot drive into the bottom corner.

“In the  second thirty we were much improved and our pressing game pegged Weobley back.

“Josh Carini scored two within 5 minutes of coming on with the second being a very tidy finish from a tight angle.

“The final third was very disjointed as we made many changes but saw the game out comfortably.

“I would like to thank Zac Evans as well as Weobley for agreeing to play us and we wish them all the best for the season.

“Interestingly there was a good crowd, too and I really think that Friday nights do work for supporters.”
