Presteigne Reserves have their first point on the board in this season’s Mid Wales League (South).

Tom Ammonds reports that this was an encouraging start, although he felt the result could have been so much better.

“We opened our ‘South’ campaign at home against Penybont Utd Reserves and battled out a 0-0 draw,” he said.

“Personally I think it was two points dropped as for most of the game we dominated and had numerous chances in both halves to be out of sight.

“But, having said that, the longer the game on there was always a possibility of Penybont creating and this they did.

“When many of the supporters say that the Penybont goalkeeper Jack Smillie was the Man of the Match this pretty much underlines how the game went.

“There were a lot of positives to take from the game and I am sure the lads know they will have to be much more clinical in front of goal if they are to challenge this season.”
