Presteigne St Andrews FC’s chairman Andy Crowe says he was delighted by the respective teams’ battling performances in their matches on Saturday, 27 August.

After a tricky start to the season for everyone concerned, ‘Crowie’ felt the players in both sides had dug deep to grind out encouraging results.

“Congratulations to the Reserves on their away draw at Rhayader Town Reserves,” he said.

“Rhayader are usually there or thereabouts in the Mid Wales League (South) title race and, by all accounts, we were  a bit unlucky not to come away with all three points.

“I was also very pleased with what was a second gritty performance by the first team under the new management.

“Had we converted the penalty then maybe it would have been a very different game.

“But it was excellent to see us dig in and see it out for a point after quite a few setbacks through injury and various other circumstances.”

Also, congratulations to ‘son of chairman’ – Ieuan Crowe – who is making his mark in the Southern League Division One South and West with Bishops Cleeve FC.

Ieuan was in the squad for the league game at Hereford FC on Monday, 29 August although he didn’t get on to the field on that occasion.

But he came on in Bishops Cleeve’s previous match and scored what proved to be the winning goal.
