Hay’s second string and the Reserves served up plenty of entertainment

Presteigne Reserves came away from Hay St Mary’s Reserves with a point from a 3-3 draw in what was an eventful game at Forest Road.

Dale Tomkins side started in fine style and were reportedly two goals up in only seven minutes.

Spencer Morgan had Presteigne Reserves ahead while Matt Strangwood continued his recent good goal scoring form by making it 2-0.

But Hay Reserves got back into the game with a goal shortly before half-time and this was to prove a sign of just how the second half was to pan out.

The home side first of all levelled the game and then apparently completed the comeback when they took the lead – 3-2 to Hay Reserves.

But Presteigne Reserves were to take a point from the game when Mark Weiland scored from the penalty spot to tie the game at 3-3.

This was one of those games from which you would probably have taken a point ahead of kick off, but no doubt the Reserves will be left thinking about what might have been after that early two-goal lead.

But, in the cold light of day, the Reserves remain unbeaten in the Mid Wales League (South) this season and this represents their best start for many years.
