Mixed results over the weekend

First team unable to stem the tide at Borth
Presteigne St Andrews FC
Borth headed home with all three points from this one

Presteigne St Andrews FC paid the price for missed opportunities as they slipped to a 3-0 home defeat by Spar Mid Wales League leaders, Borth United on Saturday, 29 October.

Borth led 2-0 at half-time, but Presteigne had had their moments including one incident where an effort was kicked off the line by a Borth defender, but overall we lacked the necessary cutting edge in front of goal.

Maybe this was the difference overall as Borth didn’t create too many chances after the break, but they took one of them to run out 3-0 winners.

As for the Reserves, well, the news here was much better as they ensured the long trek to St Harmon was worthwhile as they came home with a 4-2 victory.

I don’t have any details yet as to goalscorers but will add these in when they come to hand.

But Dale Tomkins’ side would have gone there under a little bit of pressure in the sense that, after a good start, they had picked up only one point from the last possible six – albeit against the top two teams in the Mid Wales League (South) table.

But, given St Harmon are currently bottom of the pile, anyone looking in from the outside would have thought: ‘There is a good chance to get things back on track’, although St Harmon on their own ground are never the easiest of propositions.

So, this was clearly a case of ‘job done’ by the Reserves, who are fourth in the table after the latest round of matches.
