Presteigne Reserves were beaten 2-1 in their Mid Wales League (South) match at Brecon Northcote on Saturday, 14 January.

The game had been in some doubt overnight with two pitch inspections planned for the Saturday morning.

In the event, it did go ahead and – without having yet spoken to anyone who was there – it’s a fair bet that the pitch would have been heavy.

Either way, both sides had to play on it and Brecon Northcote did their title hopes no harm at all with this victory.

The win takes them to within two points of the Mid Wales League (South) leaders, Talgarth Town, but Brecon have a game in hand.

As for the Reserves, they are now nine points off the pace, but they do have games in hand on three of the five sides above them in the table.
