First team head to the coast; no game for Ressies

No home game at Llanandras Park this weekend

Well, Saturday is almost upon us once again and the first team have a trip to the seaside to look forward to, while the Reserves face yet another postponement.

There will be no football at Llanandras Park on Saturday, 25 February as the Ressies’ scheduled home Mid Wales League (South) match against Knighton Town Reserves has been postponed.

It is reported that Knighton asked for the game to be called off as they have a stag weekend and so were going to be short of available players so that one will now have to be rearranged for later in the season.

This is frustrating for Dale Tomkins’ side for whom this is the fourth successive postponement – they last played on 28 January when they won 3-0 at Penybont.

As for the first team, well, as mentioned, they will be off to the seaside, even if it not the particular part of the Welsh coast they were initially planning on visiting.

As reported earlier in the week, the scheduled Spar Mid Wales League second-division game at Borth United will still go ahead – but it will be played at Aberystwyth Town’s Park Avenue ground.

The game will be played on Aber’s new 3G surface, so there ought to be no issues over whether or not it goes ahead, despite the best efforts of Storm Doris.

This will be the third meeting between the sides this season as we met in the Welsh Cup at Llanandras Park and the first league game of the season.

Matt Strangwood scored twice for Presteigne in the Welsh Cup tie but Borth ran out 3-2 winners in that one, while they then won 3-0 in the first league fixture at the end of October.

Borth had been right up there and challenging Kerry in the title race until recently but they would probably agree that when they were on the wrong end of a 4-1 scoreline at Churchstoke, that very much handed the initiative to Kerry.

You may well remember that Kerry needed a very late winner to beat Presteigne 2-1 at Llanandras Park on the same day.

The kick off at Aberystwyth Town will be at 2.30pm and it’s hoped to have the result up online at some stage on Saturday evening.
