Knighton Town are through to the Presteigne Otway Cup final after a narrow 1-0 win over Radnor Valley at Llanandras Park on Wednesday, 29 March.

Presteigne’s cup secretary Alan Stocker said this had been a good, competitive match, but would not have been one for the latecomer.

“Congratulations to Knighton Town FC who have made it through to the final of the Otway Cup by beating Radnor Valley,” said Alan.

Danny Ives scored the only goal of the night which came inside the first minute.

“Credit must go to both teams who were playing at near enough full-strength sides in what was a fairly even game throughout, despite what was to become a wet heavy pitch.

“It’s leasing to see teams taking the cup seriously by using their first elevens.

“Also, I must thank the committee members who helped out for the game and who have again put in the hard work to ensure we we able to get the game on at short notice.

“Their efforts are very much appreciated.”

Meanwhile, it will be Alfred Sparey Cup semi-final action on Friday, 31 March when Presteigne Reserves will take on Newcastle at Llanandras Park.

The kick off in this one will be at 7.30pm and there will be extra time and penalties should they be needed.

Admission for this game will be as for a Reserve-team fixture, so £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for senior citizens and youngsters under the age of 16.
