Penybont Reserves won’t compete in the South this season

Presteigne Reserves will have two fewer fixtures than originally planned with the sad news that Penybont United Reserves have withdrawn from the Mid Wales League (South) for the coming season.

In a statement, the league secretary Paul Worts confirmed that Penybont had formally pulled out of the league.

‘It is with regret, I have to inform you that Penybont Reserves are unable to field a team in this season’s Mid Wales League (South).

All games involving Penybont Reserves on the August fixture list will obviously therefore not go ahead.’

While Presteigne Reserves had not been due to take on Penybont Reserves in August, it’s obviously sad news for the league as a whole and the three clubs that had been due to play them in the opening month – starting with Hay St Mary’s Reserves on 19 August.

Let’s hope Penybont can attract a few more players for next season and that they will again be represented at Mid Wales League (South) level.
