Presteigne St Andrews FC will open their Spar Mid Wales League, second division home fixtures with a game against Dolgellau at Llanandras Park on Saturday, 19 August.

These two sides are going to get to know each other pretty well over the coming couple of weeks as the reverse league fixture will take place on 26 August when we will head to Dolgellau.

Manager Shaun Harris will be keen to build on the good start to the season that was the 3-2 win at Talgarth Town, even if he did admit to ageing considerably as chance after chance went begging in that one.

As for Dolgellau, they also started with a 3-2 win last weekend – they beat league newcomers Brecon Northcote in what has to be the league’s long-distance fixture this season – well, one of them, as Dolgellau will have to make the return trip at some stage.

While some people have already commented that it’s not ideal playing back-to-back league games as we will over the next two Saturdays, to be fair to the league, I am guessing it’s all down to who has entered the Welsh Cup and who hasn’t.

But, that is the hand we and Dolgellau have been dealt so we have to get on with it – first up, it will be at Llanandras Park on Saturday with a 2.30pm kick off.

Admission for the game will be £3.00 for adults, £1.50 for senior citizens and £1.00 for youngsters under the age of 16.

It’s hoped to have the result up online on Saturday evening with a few thoughts from Shaun following on at some stage over the weekend.

It is the first home game for the new-look first team, so why not pop down and take a look for yourself?
