Radnorshire Cup progress for Shaun’s side

Presteigne St Andrews FC are through to the next round of the Radnorshire Cup after an extra-time win at Llandrindod Wells.

This was an impressive victory for Shaun Harris’ side as Llan’dod play a league higher in Spar Mid Wales League division one.

But Presteigne were clearly no respecters of reputation as they opened out a 2-0 lead by half-time courtesy of goals from Matt Strangwood and Liam Fletcher.

But the home side hit back after the break – first, they cut the deficit and then, just when it seemed as though Presteigne were going to hang on for the win, they found an equaliser in the dying minutes of the game.

So, extra time was the order of the day and any thoughts the Presteigne might wilt in the added 30 minutes were put to bed when Jack Biggs came up with what proved to be the winning goal in the first period of extra time.

Presteigne then saw out the game to book their passage through to the next round of the competition.

Congratulations to everyone involved in last night’s win – 12 months on from losing 4-1 in the corresponding fixture that represents considerable progress.
