It’s been deep and crisp and even at Llanandras Park

Presteigne St Andrews FC will return to action on Friday, 15 December when they will host Abermule in a Spar Mid Wales League, second-division game at Llanandras Park.

This is clearly going to be subject to the pitch passing any kind of inspection deemed needed by committee members.

While temperatures are easing, there has been a deep covering of snow on the pitch and much will depend not only on that melting in time, but also on that thaw not leading to waterlogging.

For the benefit of those in the Abermule area, I live around three miles from the ground and we had 13 inches of snow here so there is a fair bit of the ‘white stuff’ that needs to go somewhere.

But hope springs eternal and, assuming the game does go ahead, then it will represent a good chance for Shaun Harris’ side to build on last weekend’s fine win at Aberystwyth University.

That victory combined with every other game in the league falling victim to the weather, meant Presteigne climbed to fourth in the table.

Victory over Abermule on Friday night would lift us to third albeit until Saturday when the other clubs in the division are scheduled to play their games.

But, as we say, it is all ‘weather dependent’ so please check back here and also on the club’s Facebook and twitter pages for further updates.

Assuming the game does go ahead, the kick off will be at 7.30pm and the admission prices will be the usual £3.00 for adults; £1.50 for senior citizens and £1.00 for youngsters under the age of 16.
