It will come as no great surprise to anyone that the scheduled first-team match against Abermule on Friday, 16 December has been postponed.

Club secretary Tom Ammonds went down to Llanandras Park on Thursday morning and took a few pictures of the snow and ice still on the playing surface which he then sent to the league secretary.

In very quick time we were told it was fine to call off the match so common sense has prevailed and it will be rearranged for later in the season.

Tom tells me it was not only the playing surface that was giving him cause for concern.

“To be honest, even getting down to the ground was tricky there was a lack of salt and grit on Clatterbrune and, of course, none on the road down to the ground.”

The Reserves were not scheduled to have a game this weekend anyway so it will be a blank weekend, football-wise for the club.

But a reminder the Annual Christmas Draw will take place at the Royal Oak on Sunday, 17 December when things are due to get underway at 2 o’clock.

Why not come down and have a pre-Christmas drink and see if you have one of the lucky tickets?

Also, if you have kindly agreed to donate a prize for the draw, please can you ensure you get the prize to a committee member prior to the day, or bring it down to The Oak on Sunday.
