An away point and a home win

Presteigne St Andrews FC picked up a point from a 1-1 draw at Newbridge-on-Wye in their Spar Mid Wales League, second-division game on Saturday, 3 February.

After falling a goal behind early on in the game, Presteigne rallied and Rory Hackett came up with the equaliser.

The result means Presteigne remain exactly halfway in the second division table – we are seventh in the 13-team division, although we have played more matches than the majority of those clubs below us.

Manager Shaun Harris was forced into changes for this game and had this take on the afternoon’s proceedings.

“On the plus side two lads were making their first team debuts today.

“Well done to Sam and Louis – both performed really well and didn’t look out of place.

“Marcus Pearce was Man of the Match and it was good to see the return of Tim Office and Owen Williams as both impressed.

“Overall, I felt we were unlucky not to take the three points.”

As for the Reserves, well done to them on reportedly being named Mid Wales League (South) Team of the Month for January.

The celebrated the occasion in fine style but beating the division’s bottom side Felindre 7-1 at Llanandras Park.

Gareth Bull led the way in this one for the Reserves with a hat-trick – well done, Bully.

Duane Anning netted twice with Josh Gardiner also on target while Tom Lewis scored from the penalty spot.

Luke Morgan was the Felindre goalscorer with some feeling that, while the Reserves were certainly good value for the win, the scoreline was a little harsh on the visitors.
