Quiz Night is on the way, but it’s an evening’s racing first

Presteigne St Andrews FC will stage two events in the couple of weeks that should hopefully attract good crowds to the social club at Llanandras Park.

First up, it will be the Race Night which is to be held on Saturday, 17 March when the first race is due off at 6.30pm.

This is a joint-fundraiser for the Football Club and Presteigne and Norton Community Support.

If you have never been to one of these evenings, they are great fun and you can even have a little flutter on the nag of our choice.

Videos of little-known horse races are shown and you can invest a shilling or two on your chosen horse, while a bar and refreshments will be available – what’s not to like?

The races have been sponsored and the horses sold and it’s hoped it will prove a good fundraiser for both organisations.

Then, on Maundy Thursday – 29 March – the Football Club will hold its Annual Quiz.

This always proves a popular event with a large number of teams usually attending as it’s a good way to kick off the Easter weekend.

The Quiz is due to get underway at 8.00pm, but teams are asked to get there for 7.30pm.

Tom Ammonds will be our very own ‘Jeremy Paxman’ that night as he will be firing the questions.

Entry for the Quiz is £10.00 for a team of four and if you could let Tom know beforehand if you are planning on entering at team that would be very handy.
