Well done to everyone involvd in the weekend action for Presteigne St Andrews FC as both the first team and the Reserves recorded away victories.

The first team deserve particular praise as they took the basic eleven to Montgomery Town for their Spar Mid Wales League, second-division fixture on Saturday, 14 April.

Apparently, the Reserves took three substitutes for their Pip Samuel (Electrical) League Cup semi-final tie at Llandrindod Wells Reserves so if someone can explain to me why the Ressies had three subs and yet the first team had none, I don’t suppose I would be the only committee member interested to know the answer to that one.

Anyway, that aside, goals from Tom Crichton and Jamie Blythe ensured the first team came away with a morale-boosting 2-1 victory at a Montgomery Town side they will meet again between now and the end of the season.

As for the Reserves, well done to them on making it through to the Mid Wales League Cup final after a 2-0 victory at Llandrindod Wells Reserves in their semi-final tie.

Duane Anning will claim the headlines from this one as he scored both of the Reserves’ goals.

Mark Weiland and Alan Stocker’s side will now face either Rhayader Town or Llanidloes Town Reserves in the final.

The second semi-final will take place at Llanidloes on Tuesday, 17 April.

So, one of our better weekends of the season and well done to everyone involved.
