My thanks to first-team manager Shaun Harris for supplying both a match report and some photos of last night’s opening pre-season match at Bartestree.

It was certainly a lively affair with eight goals and a last-minute equaliser.

Here’s what Shaun made of it all.

“The game finished 4-4 with both sides creating good chances throughout the game,” he said.

“We found ourselves 2-0 down after 20 minutes but then we started to find our feet and started to cause problems for Bartestree.

“But, for all that, we went in 3-1 down at half-time with Tom Crichton scoring our goal.

“It was a different story in the second half as we were on top for large periods of the game and found ourselves 4-3 up with a minute to go.

“Unfortunately slack defending allowed Bartestree to equalise right at the death.

“The goalscorers were Tom Crichton who helped himself to two – the first a tap-in from three yards and the second a great left-footed shot from just outside the box.

“Jamie Blythe also scored twice – once by lobbing the on-rushing keeper and then one from the penalty spot.

“In terms of the new players on show, Jordan Cooper, Nick Layton, Marc Avery and Chris Evans all impressed.

“I am very happy with our first run out against a strong Bartestree side and we now look forward to the Otway Cup final on 21 July.

“I hope to have a few more new faces on show and have some more news on who’s put pen to paper.”
