Three points on the board for the first team

Well done to both Presteigne St. Andrews FC and Presteigne Reserves in producing a win and a draw on Saturday, 20 October.

The first team recorded what was technically their first win of the season in the MMP with Norman Lloyd second division when they beat Abermule 3-2 at Llanandras Park.

Yes, there was a win at home to Brecon Northcote in August but sadly Northcote have since resigned from the league and so that win was removed from the record books.

But this win might have been a long time coming but it was well deserved, not least because of the performance of Finn in goal who was many supporters’ Man of the Match.

Curtis Williams scored twice from Presteigne in the first half  as the home side went in 2-0 up at the break.

Abremule started brightly in the second half and this, combined with Curtis picking up an injury, threatened to see the momentum swing away from the home side.

Finn saved a penalty to protect the two-goal advantage but almost immediately after this Abermule scored.

Marcus Pearce restored Presteigne’s two-goal advantage with a neat finish only for Abermule to hit back again.

But Shaun Harris’ side hung on for what will surely be a morale-boosting victory – so, well done to everyone involved.

The Reserves also had to dig deep in their Mid Wales League (South) game at St Harmon.

The home side were leading 3-1 in this one and it looked as though Alan Stocker’s side was going to return home empty-handed.

But they rallied and pulled a goal back to set up a grandstand finish.

They duly delivered when coming up the equalising goal in the final minute of the game.

It was a spirited comeback by the Reserves who are seventh in the table heading into Friday night’s game against Llanidloes Town Reserves (26 October).

A reminder – this game will now be at Llanandras Park after the fixture was switched.  The kick off will be at 7.30pm.
