Hay, at home, goes ahead as planned

Presteigne St Andrews FC’s scheduled MMP with Norman Lloyd League second division game at home to Hay St Mary’s on Tuesday, 13 November will be subject to a pitch inspection.

The groundsman Tracy Hammond and his team have been unable to work on the pitch since Friday’s match – also against Hay St Mary’s – and it’s looking like a very tight turn around.

Friday’s Central Wales Cup first-round tie between the sides cut up the pitch and so the grounds staff would have been keen to get on there as soon as possible but unfortunately this hasn’t proved possible.

As for Friday night’ game, Hay St Mary’s recovered from falling behind in the first minute of the game to run out 5-1 winners.

Jordan Griffiths’ first goal for the first team had Presteigne ahead in this one but Hay turned things around before the interval to lead 2-1.

The injury problems continue to mount for first-team manager with Ewan Rhodes, Marcus Pearce and Jamie Blythe all struggling with knocks.

The general view was the game was a far closer contest than the scoreline would suggest with Hay eventually pulling clear late in the second half when they scored three times.

We’ll keep you posted regarding the likelihood of the Tuesday-night game going ahead. Just to stress that, as things stand, it is on at the moment but Hay have been notified that there has to be some degree of doubt.

At least Hay saw the state of the pitch for themselves on Friday evening and so they will have some sympathy for the situation in which we find ourselves.
