Both sides are on the road this weekend

Both Presteigne St Andrews FC and Presteigne Reserves will be in league action on Saturday, 8 December.

The first team are on the road again when they will head to Montgomery Town in a MMP with Norman Lloyd League, second-division game.

When the sides met at Llanandras Park earlier in the season Monty headed home with a 3-1 victory although Presteigne ran them closer than that scoreline might suggest.

At the time, Montgomery were top of the table and they are still very much in the promotion frame.

They currently sit in fourth spot in the division but they are only three points off the pace so they will see Saturday’s game as a good opportunity to increase the pressure on the top teams.

Meanwhile, the Reserves will sign off for 2018 with an away trip to Llanidloes Town Reserves for what will be the third meeting between the sides this season.

Llani’s second string won the Summer Cup final back 4-3 when the sides met at Llanidloes back in August but the Reserves produced what was arguably their best league showing of the season to date in the league game at Llanandras Park.

Alan Stocker’s side ran out 5-1 victors in that one with Tom Lewis scoring twice.

Llanidloes Town Reserves are four points better off than the Reserves having played two fewer matches, but no doubt Messrs Stocker and Ammonds will be looking to end the pre-Christmas schedule on a high note.

It’s hoped to have the results of both games up online at some stage over the weekend while I’ll then chase the managers for reactions and comment early next week.
