Ok, so where did that come from?!

Shaun steps down as first-team manager

A very pleasing result for Shaun

If we are being honest, not too many Presteigne St Andrews FC supporters would have given much for the first team’s chances as they headed to Newbridge-on-Wye on Saturday, 16 February.

After all, Presteigne are one off the foot of the table, were without an away win all season and had lost 7-0 at home to Newbridge earlier in the season.

So, the omens were not looking too flash but clearly someone forgot to mention this to Shaun Harris and his first-team squad.

They came away from Newbridge with a 6-1 victory – a result that would have raised eyebrows throughout the league and which would have certainly have put smiles on the faces of players and supporters alike.

Tommy Murphy scored four times withe Ewan Rhodes and Jamie Davies also on target.

“It was Tommy Murphy’s third game so we were more settled,” said Shaun.

“Tommy scored four while Jamie – our other new striker – scored and it was a good all-round team performance.

“This was especially true given that we had only 12 men while Newbridge had five men on the bench so we expected a very tough game,” he added.

The Reserves were on the wrong end of a 4-1 scoreline in their Mid Wales League (South) game at Newcastle.
