Reserves bow out of ‘bont Cup

There were eight goals at Llanandras Park on Wednesday evening

Presteigne Reserves bowed out of the Penybont Cup at the first hurdle on Wednesday evening when they went down 5-3 at home to Radnor Valley in their rescheduled quarter-final tie.

The writing was on the wall early on in this one as Oliver Jones put Radnor ahead after only two minutes and Presteigne Reserves were left playing catch up for much of the evening.

Chris Jones could have made it 2-0 shortly afterwards but dragged his shot across the face of goal, but Radnor did double their lead ten minutes before the break.

The Reserves got one back, but Radnor then regained their two-goal advantage before going on to lead 4-2 and then 5-3 as they booked their place in the semi-finals.

Alan Stocker, Stuart Skidmore and Adam Crowe were on target for Presteigne Reserves but Andy Crowe will be disappointed to have bowed out of this one at the first time of asking.

Presteigne Reserves will return to action on Saturday 2 April when they will entertain Hay St Marys – a report on the game against Radnor and a preview of the Hay game will appear on the Reserves’ page of the site at some stage on either Thursday 31 March or Friday 1 April – just as soon as I have bent ‘Crowie’s’ ear for the information.
