Presteigne St Andrews head into their penultimate game of the league season this weekend when last season’s Spar Mid Wales League champions, Penparcau, will be at Llanandras Park.

While ‘arky were deserved champions last time around, they have clearly found it much tougher this time around and have suffered an alarming slide down the first division table.

They flirted briefly with the relegation places, but have steadied the ship to the extent where they will be playing again at this level next season.

Sadly, the same cannot be said for the home side whose relegation was all but finalised a few weeks ago, while Dyffryn Banw’s Bank Holiday Monday win at home Waterloo Rovers confirmed Presteigne will finish bottom of the first division table.

Callum Matthews suffered a recurrence of his ankle injury during the defeat at Carno last time out so is a doubt for this game, but Johnny Bird should be back in the squad.

The kick off at Llanandras Park will be at 2.30pm and admission prices for the game will be the usual £2.50 for adults, £1.50 for senior citizens and £1.00 for youngsters under the age of 16.

There is no game for the Reserves on Saturday 30 April as Bronllys were struggling to find a pitch for the game so this one will need to be rearranged.

If you are going to watch the game, then please could you make an extra effort to take a few piccies or video on your mobile phone or camera.  My normally uber-reliable source of photos, the artist formerly known as Paula Bufton, is not going to be at the game this weekend.

So, if you do take a few photos, then please email them into the website for use in the match report that it is hoped to have up online at some stage on either Sunday 1 or Monday 2 April.
